What do you wish to become in life?

It's hard being human!

There is this instance that I am recalling today while having thoughts of saying farewell to the year 2014. It was the time when I was in school. During one of lectures by our Principal a question was put forward to all the students of our class by him- “What do you wish to become in life?”

Everyone was coming up with pretty decent answers. Soon we had aspiring doctors, engineers, scientists, astronauts and many other would-be professionals right in that class. I was amazed with many of the answers and few students actually appeared focused and committed to fulfill their dreams. Our dear principal was delighted to listen to all the answers.

Finally it was my turn and the same question was blown at me- “What do you wish to become in life?” I might have sounded like a fool among a batch of learners as I replied to his question, “Sir, I want to become a human!”

Soon the class was filled with a laughter that presumably missed breaking the window panes. That laughter was not at all bothering to me as I smiled and thought in my mind ‘Well the question was about life and why does people keep confusing life with career? ’ “LIFE IS NOT CAREER”!

As everyone in the class caught up with their breath I could see resting tears of bygone laughter in the corners of their eyes. Even my closest friend in the class who was seated adjacent to me had rosy cheeks with the rush of blood that has came along with the chortle.

Our dear principal, who was still having his ending fits of laughter said, “Look pupils! We have a non-human person among ourselves!” Again there was a laughter but a short one as everyone was already exhausted and could not continue the good exercise any further. Apparently, they all must have thanked me for coming up with that weird answer- “Sir, I want to become a human!” It actually helped them coming out from the solemness they were engrossed in earlier.

There was a pause, a silence in which I got my ‘self’ thinking again “Why would they just laugh at me and not think about this seriously?Come one we need to learn becoming a human! Or if I try improvise my statement ‘We need to become BETTER HUMANS’!

Soon the principal called my name and stated, “My dear boy, will you give us an insight of why you said that?” He added further, “I know you since you were a child and everyone here is aware about your knowledge quotient. There must be some reason why you said so? Please let us all know. We are all ears to you!”

I have always been so talkative and even bagged the title of a ‘Chatterbox’ from one of our teachers at school (mostly what I spoke to others was a result of series of silent thoughts and imaginative impressions that I used to gather and work upon within my mind; but it was a secret that I always kept safe with me)

Anyhow, the way principal gave me the opportunity to express my self as a orator,  I could see some of students in my class holding their heads as if they were trying to say, “Why Sir? He will not stop now till our ears drop!”

It was not the time for me being an introvert of course. If we give a statement then we must have something to support it. That is what most of educated people do! They try to reason everything!

“Wouldn’t life have been easier if Adam and Eve not ate that wicked fruit?”

Adam and Eve in Garden of Eden

“Will you say something today son?” The principal as if jolted me from the imaginary scene that I was enjoying at Garden of Eden in the backdrop of my mind.

“Sure Sir! If you allow I will try to reason out and justify my answer. As my fellow friends have given wonderful answers I was too happy to see them answering confidently. I wish all of them best wishes from my side.”

“We know you as our principal, the head of our school. If anyone from outside world comes to our school you are the one who is the first and most important person to meet for them”

“We are committed to behave like good students so as to glorify your role and so are the teachers who keep working hard to make us learn.”

“I may look stupid briefing that all as it is a simple thing and everyone here knows about it willingly or unwillingly. Even the stray dogs that has been adopted by the school might have a sense about it (I said that so as to break the seriousness that has now started surfacing the class).”

I stopped for a moment and then spoke out again, “OFTEN THE SIMPLE THINGS ARE THE ONES THAT WE IGNORE. Life is all about simple things so when I point out that we have you as principal, some tens of teachers and hundreds of students in this school, I wish to say that these are simply roles that we play in our society. There are other roles as well such as a doctor, a scientist, a businessman and so much more.

We often wish to get into these roles and many of us fail to get there. There are people who lose their self-confidence when they can’t fit into some role that their parents, teachers and they themselves desired in life. The one that pains us the most is the EXPECTATIONS THAT WE HAVE FROM US.

At no day under the glow and warmth of Sun, these roles make up for our life. Our life means much more than these simple roles. We are born and taught about how to eat, how to study, how to act, how to earn and so on but we are never given the learning and knowledge of “HOW TO LIVE?” Is that part so minimal?  I believe it is not!

Most of the times we forget while chasing our goals that life is beautiful. We also forget that our conduct and character is more important for this life. We never bother to analyze our words, deeds and actions.

 A Quote by Einstein

This is why people do become something in career but they actually fall short of becoming a human!

Why do we hear so much of negative news coming from everywhere?

Why does a person fear walking on a crowded street? Aren’t we of same species when in crowd? Still we fear? Whom do we fear?

Why people do not trust each other?

Why a son does not look after his parents when they are old? Why does he forget the sacrifice they made to raise him?

Why are little children and women killed around the globe?

Why all of everything negative at rising?

I can think of only one possible answers!

“We as child are expected to follow a path of becoming something but we are never given the knowledge of keeping alive our humanity. As we grow up we become more of man and less of human.

_______*_______

AS WE GROW UP….

WE BECOME MORE OF THE MAN AND LESS OF HUMAN!

MAN    versus    HUMAN

MAN= Materialistic Aartificial   & unNatural

HUMAN= Happy_Understanding_Merciful_Appreciative _Noble

Soon there was a tintinnabulation, the school closing bell was ringing out loud but none present in the class showed any sign of moment. The principal as well as the students were carefully paying attention to me and I just said, “Happy New Year everyone! This is the last class that we had this year. I wish all you become better humans in the next year.”

Soon everyone shouted with excitement- “Happy New Year!”

The principal too wished everyone a great year ahead! He smiled and patted on my back and left the class in a thoughtful mood!

_______*_______

I wish each one of you who read this post a very Happy New Year 2015! I hope it will be the year in which each one of us will rise to a higher level in life.

Let us be more human and less of man!

Let us all have compassion in our hearts!

Let us have a heart to love those who are ours and even those who are strangers!

Let us believe in humanity more than we believe in religions!

Let us help those who are in need!

Let us not fall prey to all that is negative!

Let us embrace positive thoughts into our lives!

*HAPPY NEW YEAR*

Story of a Boy who used to See Jesus Coming Every Christmas (Happy Birthday my friend, Jesus!)

HBD Jesus

It’s Christmas time! Ever wondered why every year you feel so much of joy and recreated enthusiasm to celebrate this wonderful day with your loved ones. Or even if you are lone wandering and thinking why there is no companion with you to be a part of this festivity, you still will close eyes as the clock strikes 12 at night. For a moment everyone feels like there is hope. Most of us feel that way! You feel like doing well, express you happiness with smiles and laughter. Parents love to play with their kids and so do the kids love spending time with elder people. Christmas brings everyone together! For a while a believer of hope and faith feels like as if this was a special day. A day when earth rises up to heaven and Almighty fondly caress every soul with his compassion and love.

So Christmas means a lot to everyone in small or big ways. I remember my mother cooking for us mouthwatering dishes on this day. I could never thank her enough for how she taught me humanity before telling me the worldly tactics. I was born as an elder child to a Christian mother and a Hindu father and so I read Geeta in the morning and at night carefully enjoyed studying the Bible. There was so much of commonality in both the Holy Scriptures but I will not start up with any form of comparison in this article. Let us just stick to Christmas.

By now I guess you must have figured out that who plays the role of boy in the story I am going to tell you!

——————————————————————————-

Boy: Mother Merry Christmas!

Mother (while burning her wishes written on paper using a candle): Merry Christmas my child. May God bless you!

Boy: So what did you wish for?

Mother: One must never speak about the wish that had been made.

Boy: Oh! Don’t tell me then.

Mother: Come my child, let us eat.

————————————

The day has been over and the boy was resting in his bed. He was feeling warm and had a kind of joy in his heart. There lied on his chest his most loved companion after his mother- his cat! There was something going in the boy’s mind and his thoughts were expressive putting a peaceful smile on his face.

————————————-

The cool breeze was making everything freeze around. In the ‘light of moon’ two figures (one big and one small were clearly visible on the rooftop!

Boy: (Apparently talking to his cat) You know Duro (that was the name given to the cat when it was found as a stray kitten which was too weak but quite attractive) when you were a kitten, Dad brought you into the house. He was the one who used to hate cats and that day we were all shocked to see him holding you in his hands. I just want to tell you, ‘You really are special buddy!’ Merry Christmas. God bless you!

Duro: (As if holding so many words and expression within its ‘cat-mind’ slowly rubbed his whiskers and right check to the lap of the boy)

Christmas-Star

Boy: They say when Jesus was born there was this really big star that dazzled like a neatly cut diamond. It was so bright that even moonlight appeared dim in its glow.

(Boy closed his eyes and held his spine straight as if going into a meditative pose)

Pause……….

The Inner Voice of the Boy: It sure feels different on this day.

I know you are loving the sound of wind passing through numerous pine needles and making the trees swing, as if they are dancing in joy.

I know you are imagining people all over the world praying to God, thanking Him and also at the same time spending time with their loved ones. This is not what a human does every day.

I can fully understand the excitement you hold in your little heart. I can perceive the sparkles of passionate heartbeats pouring out from you just like shooting stars in the sky.

I can sense that you love everyone but what you love the most is Him. Isn’t it?

The boy opened his eyes and again the same smile was there on his face.

It was the time he make his wish!

It was the time he knew someone is going to listen him!

It was the time he wanted to see a Jesus like he has known every year!

He closed his eyes again and murmured

A Prayer:

“God I do not want anything from you. There is so much that you have given to me the most important of which are my parents and the loved ones. I know you have some tests ahead for me and I am committed to excel in each one of them.

If ever you feel like I am not doing my part correctly do guide me. Do hold my hand as I will need you all through my journey and even after that.

Pause…..

Slowly tears started rolling from the cheeks of the boy.

I can never imagine what you have gone through Jesus my friend. I do not know you as a God rather a companion. You came to enlighten people with knowledge and they hung you up that way! I can never imagine what you went through.

Even after facing all those atrocities you heal hearts with your divine love and faith. It is so wonderful.

Why I keep feeling you all around me, especially on this day, the day of your birth?

I have even seen you standing in front of my eyes many a times, felt your hands holding mine when I am in trouble.

“If I tell that to a believer of you, maybe he will say that it is just an imagination. You know sometimes humans act strangely. They will say they believe you and they will be the ones who will question you, challenge you and forget you but I will not.”

Even if this is my imagination, I just want to keep imagining like that…because I want to see you coming every Christmas!

Confused? YES! Lost? NO!! At least not everyone

Seeing a good movie always make you feel better. It is just like a perfectly brewed coffee that leaves an aftertaste and open wide the imaginative canvas which is otherwise put close somewhere in our minds.

So this Sunday I watched PK (thanks to my lovely wife Reeaa for taking me to the film), the new happening movie of Bollywood iconic actor Amir Khan and just like his nature he enthralls audiences once again with his brilliant performance. Every actor in the movie has acted well and Rajkumar Hirani proves out why he should be loved and blessed for being there in a role of a Bollywood Director.

 Still from movie PK

Well of course I am not planning to write a movie review over here but I just wanted to thank entire cast and crew of #PKTheFilm that actually has given me yet another inspiration to strike down my fingers on keyboard. I love writing, I seriously do. It gives me a rush, a satisfaction, like no drug can give to a man. Also, I hope that what I am writing actually makes some sense and worthy for those who read it. I would say PK is kind of a film that makes you laugh and self-introspect you at the same time. It is an amazing thing to achieve on celluloid!

As humans, we sometimes do look confused in this world. When we look into different societies and communities, we find, they are separated by so many ideologies and actions.

WHAT IS GOOD FOR ONE IS BAD FOR ANOTHER!

WHAT IS PIOUS FOR ONE IS IMPIOUS FOR ANOTHER!

WHAT REPRESENTS JOY FOR ONE REPRESENTS GRIEF FOR ANOTHER!

AND SO IT GOES ON……!!

People living in these little societies seem to be so different and obviously if some extraterrestrial-ET (more decorated world for an alien) comes to this earth, it is going to get in a whole lot of confusion because we do look confused man! 😛

Suppose, just for a while, you have no religion at all, no background, no parents, nothing at all. Now when you see people dressed in the costumes that represent different religions and everyone going to meet God by staying that way, believe me you are going to laugh till you die.

HOW CAN THAT EVER HAPPEN?

WHEN DID GOD DESIGN SO MUCH OF DRESSES FOR HIS FOLLOWERS?

ON TOP OF THAT….EVERYONE IS FIGHTING FOR HIS OWN GOD….TRYING TO COMPETE WITH  FOLLOWERS OF OTHER GODS…SOMETIMES EVEN THEY DO GET THIRSTY FOR EACH OTHER’S BLOOD TO PROVE THEIR GOD UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF THEIR GODMENS!

NO DOUBT SUCH PEOPLE ARE CONFUSED! OR MAY BE GODMEN WANT THEM TO STAY CONFUSED TO REALIZE THEIR OWN SELFISH MOTIVES :/

(When you recall the horrific incident of #peshawarkillings (mere mention of which trembles a humble soul) one gets even more confused because a set of people following a particular religion killed the younger generation of their own society) CAN’T BE JUSTIFIED AT ALL!!

Now that is just one side of the coin. After confusion comes yet another word which we call ‘lost’. So if we are confused does that mean we are lost? NO, not necessarily!

There are people living in this world in every society, each community and across all countries of this globe that actually have no time for getting confused. These are people who are working to fulfill a purpose in their lives.

They might have religion given to them like a certificate right when they were born. (ISN’T IT SO FUNNY THAT TO LEARN EVEN ABC, TO BECOME A DOCTOR, AN ENGINNER OR ANYTHING ELSE YOU NEED TO TAKE CLASSES, COMPETE AND THEN SUCCESSFULLY CLEAR YOUR EXAMINATIONS…ALL OF WHICH TAKES TIME…..

EVEN TO BECOME PARENTS AND ACTUALLY HAVE A CHILD YOU NEED TO REACH PUBERTY BUT TO BECOME A CHIRITIAN, A MUSLIM, A HINDU, A BUDDHIST, A SIKH AND SO ON…..YOU NEED NOT DO ANYTHING….YOU ARE JUST BORN ‘ANY OF THESE’…THAT’S ALL…AND OTHER SOCIETAL CATEGORIES WORSEN EVERYTHING. HINDUS KNOW THE BEST ABOUT SUCH CATEGORIES! PHEWWWWWW!)

So there ARE people who have these tags with them but they do not take them as tags for fighting a championship rather they join hands to serve humanity, care about nature and finally develop competencies that make them better as humans’ altogether. These people know that they need to get unified and share more of positive thoughts than combatting each other with plethora of IDEOLOGIES THAT ARE NEVER GOING US TO TAKE CLOSER TO GOD.

Getting to God, is a lone journey for everyone.

Just take an example of two siblings going to school. When they return to their home they have an option to fight or join their hands till they reach to their parents. Both will have to make a choice and continue their small journey. Imagine you as a parent of these two little kids. If they come to you, travelling all the way to home fighting and hurting each other;

WILL IT BE A PLEASING SIGHT FOR YOU? WOULD NOT YOU FEEL BAD? WOULD NOT YOU PUNISH BOTH THE KIDS FOR HURTING EACH OTHER AT THE SAME TIME FEELING MORE PAIN THAN THEM IN YOUR HEART??

I may be too minimal to say this but OUR DEAR GOD might share this same feeling when He see that His children are reaching to Him with so much of fight and negativity.

So how can you make things better? I could write another hundreds of words to answer this question but I won’t do that as I have something better to offer you.

Here is this little animated video that I watched sometime back. It simply and beautifully explains how people with differences can do things together. I would just say that do watch the video till the end!

DO NOT COMPETE USING RELIGIONS…

USE THEM IN UNISON TO KNOW YOUR GOD IN A BETTER WAY…

IN AN INTELLECTUAL WAY!

Stay blessed everyone and DO WATCH PK 🙂

They Created God!

Creating God

An artist never compromises with the feel of an art in creation. A writer can tear thousand written pages, a painter can rip apart several colorful canvases, a sculptor can destroy all that was sculptured…and all this is done to achieve perfection. That is what an artist is all about.

Sometimes I think if an artist always strives to achieve perfection, the highest point, the highest degree and highest form of a creation then if we say ‘God is perfect’; there must be an artist who created Him…and like everything artistic around, God could just be an art form….writers, painters, sculptures and musicians created Him altogether!

George Carlin on God

I would say these artists were excellent in telling stories with the help of their art and that is why majority of people do believe in existence of the Almighty even when they do not meet such a thing personally.

“A short story of a lovely little girl named Keeva comes to my mind. She lived in Ireland with her parents and an elder brother Aiden. During one of school vacations Keeva and Aiden went to their grandmother house. It was the first time they were away from their parents but in a day or two they were liking the new place very much. Their grandmother was a beautiful old lady who loved to sculpt and paint dwarfs. Keeva was fascinated by these little creation on the very first sight.

She made them as her imaginary friends as most of the times Aiden was busy playing solo games. Her grandmother liked Keeva’s nature of being a loveable and obedient child. So as to entertain Keeva, grandmother shared imaginary stories of dwarfs being protector of humans in this world. She told her a bedtime story in which dwarfs become live at nights and correct every wrong happening in the world with their magic and powers. Soon after protecting the world, they would come back in her garden and take rest for a while. Keeva couldn’t sleep early that night. The story told by her grandmother became more than a bedtime story for her. Now for Keeva, the little dwarfs were the gods! She always would want to have them around her.

When Keeva and Aiden were about to leave, the grandmother gifted Keeva a little dwarf wearing a red hat and proudly owning a thick white beard. This was like a dream come true for Keeva. She now has her god with her. As Keeva grew older she was taught repeatedly about a more popular God. She soon forgot the little dwarf and started following the more popular One!”

Do you know someone who has been like Keeva?

Look around, search and read about religions, gods and goddesses; you will find a plethora of art and creativity in there.

Just give a thought about it…Would God have become so popular if artists wouldn’t have been there? Doesn’t that make a man more higher in reputation because he has been the artist all the time!!

PROVING GOD BY KILLING INNOCENCE!

People have faith but when you hear about a news where a group of armed men (it is a shame to call them human though) kill innocent children what comes to your mind then? Think it for a while!

Stop the Killing

In a series of tweets, Satyarthji expressed his anguish and urged all right-thinking people to rise against the “inhuman” crime.

Nobel peace laureate Malala Yousafzai, who was shot in the head by the Taliban in 2012, said she was “heartbroken” by “the senseless and cold blooded killing” of scores of children by Taliban militants Tuesday in Pakistan.

“I am heartbroken by this senseless and cold blooded act of terror in Peshawar that is unfolding before us. Innocent children in their school have no place in horror such as this,” Malala said in a statement.

“I condemn these atrocious and cowardly acts and stand united with the government and armed forces of Pakistan whose efforts so far to address this horrific event are commendable.”

Seventeen-year-old Malala, who now lives in Britain, became a global icon after she was shot and nearly killed by the Taliban in her native Pakistan in October 2012 for insisting that girls had a right to an education.

“My heart bleeds for bereaved families. One of the darkest days of humanity,” he said adding “these are all our children who’ve been murdered today. My prayers and condolences are with the families.

Have our Gods become so small that we need to protect them by repeating macabre and horrific scenes like this. Where does such a form of faith and belief come from? In which scripture is it written that you can ensure a seat in heaven or closeness with God once you kill an innocent being?

It is not just about killing innocent children anymore. These group of Zombies (media and politicians prefer to call them TERRORISTS but I would instead call them ZOMBIES as there is NOTHING of LIFE in THESE SICK MINDS AND BODIES) are killing innocence rather ripping it apart from this beautiful planet.

There are people who realize that they are doing wrong and then they repent and regret. Such people at least try to rectify what they have done with their corrected deeds and actions. What about those who have lost discrimination between right and wrong? It seems like a devil’s plan in action that injects evil in every other soul it can feed upon. Still if you try to reason all your learning becomes zero as you can’t even say something about such an inhumane deed.

May God, Allah (whatever is the name of Almighty), give strength to parents who might be cursing the day when their children came to this world). Those parents never got time to tell their children that they will meet such a gruesome, a horrific end in this world. Imagine if one of these parents, a mother peep into dreams of people who are relaxing and not using their power and authority appropriately. They would not be able to look into those wailing eyes that by now have gathered so much of silence and darkness.

 We

Hope! Surely that has to be the last thing left in Pandora ’s Box every time. Hope is something that is keeping us alive. We are hoping that humanity will recollect one day, keeping behind every filthy evil dirt it has gathered right from the beginning of history. This is just a hope! What happens to scars? They never go easily! They remain there and keep the pain very much evident like lonely dark path which brings in everything wild and ghostly to our minds.

Somewhere, someone feels rush of negativity, a dark adrenaline rush possibly when he accomplishes a devil plan. Such a poor soul! He knows nothing about love, humanity, compassion and brotherhood. These words mean nothing to him. I am not worrying at all about this inhumane creature. LIFE MEANS STRIFE FOR THIS ZOMBIE! I am just concerned about those who have tiniest will to change, TO LET THE POSITIVE SPIRIT SEEP IN! I do not want to make you feel bad reading all this but this is truth and we have to think about it and rather do something so that it never happens again! We know it will because even this time when you are reading this, children playing, someone having a meal with a loved one…so many different people in world doing so many vivid things- at that very moment THERE ARE PEOPLE PLANNING MURDERS! RAPE!! KILLINGS!!! And other unimaginable things to a generous soul.

Lord crying for the world

I needed to so something! So I wrote this but let me share with you a real story that I have known. Here, I recall an incident told to me by a friend.

“There was this beautiful little village where lived an old couple. They had an amazing time in their young years and all of their children were now far from them. They loved to keep company of children coming from every possible neighborhood. People used to send their kids to their home saying, “Go to your Granny’s home! She will feed you, let you play and even tell stories!” So did the children without asking questions or making excuses as this was they loved.”

One fine day when everything seemed to be normal, entered a person (I won’t give that person any name). He was young salesman and looked decent. The old man offered him a seat in his yard where the young salesman started displaying all he had in his bag. As it was lunchtime, the old lady called everyone for lunch and even salesman was told to sit and eat without getting into formalities.

After having a good meal the pleasure of getting relived rom hunger and tiredness was clearly visible on salesman’s face. The day got interesting for old couple and the salesman who had quite a good deals and too much of gossip.

As the salesman was about to leave he turned back and sat right in front of the feet of old couple. He told them a shocking truth. He said, “Once I was a criminal, a terrorist, a murdered but now I am a salesman and I am happy that I chose to correct myself.”

The old couple was shocked of this revealing. All they could have done was feel strange but silently bless the young salesman.

I hope someone having a conflict between evil and good read this little story and take a decision in favor of humanity…IN FAVOUR OF LIFE!

AMEN!

Achieving a Drug Free Society with Purpose, Passion, Perseverance and Patriotism

Drug Free

So how many of you have ever watched this movie named The Basketball Diaries? In this movie Leonardo DiCaprio features in lead role, playing part of a young and bright lad that falls victim to drug and related abuses. It is in fact a brilliantly made film and there are so many movies relating to the same topic in every possible language around the world cinema. There have been plays, songs and what not! SO many banners and posters shouting out load, “DO NOT DO DRUGS! THEY RUIN YOUR LIFE!!” These words might mean nothing to those who have already been victimized.

A Still from The Basketball Diaries

“First, it’s a Saturday night thing when you feel cool like a gangster or a rockstar- just something to kill the boredom, you know? They call it a chippie, a small habit. It feels so good, you start doing it on Tuesdays… then Thursdays… then it’s got you. Every wise ass punk on the block says it won’t happen to them, but it does.”

Credits: IMDb (Quote from ‘The Basketball Diaries’)

Now I will come to the inspiration that motivated me to come up with this topic. For that, I would like to thank our Dear Indian PM Mr. Narendra Modi. He has brought in a lot of change to the image of Prime Minister in Indian nation. No matter what is you political inclination but one sure gets to love and become a fan of his speeches, public speaking and deeds. Just yesterday I heard his radio initiative series message called ‘#MannKiBaat. Quite skillfully and maturely he brought out the topic of drug abuse into limelight.

 Mr. Modi and AIR

A translated excerpt of the message by PM Mr. Modi:

[In his third ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme on radio, he said the menace is a “national pain” but instead of the youth mired in the problem, drugs should be shunned.

He said drug addiction is “a malaise filled 3D — darkness, destruction and devastation — as it leads to the dark alleys of destruction and devastation”.

The Prime Minister said a thinking process should begin to ensure that the country is rid of this problem and added that he will try to involve celebrities from the cine world, sports and other fields to campaign for a “drug-free India”.]

Source: TOI (Do read the complete article, if you missed hearing the radio message)

A very defining part of his message was that he highlighted how drug and its related abuses are the main evil and not the youth that falls victim to it. Maybe it is the era when parents cannot find time to get into deeper skin of their children and they only wake up to reality when it is too late!

Drug abuse victims need help from loved ones and society

I recall a little incident that I got to witness and have always thought of forgetting it at first place but let me tell you about all of it. There was this bright student excelling at everything. A boy merely 17 years old who loved studying science, public speaking, outdoor activities and music. Anyone who met this boy was fascinated with his lively attitude towards life. Many used to rival him for the kind of friendship he built with others in a short period of time.

One day everybody around was too shocked to know that they boy whom all used to admire was no more. Few months back he was transferred to a different college owing to the will of his over-ambitious and highly-expecting parents and there he fell into a bad company. He did a lot of drugs over there and by the time his parents came to know about his deteriorating condition, it was too late. WHAT A WASTE OF LIFE! SIGH!! Only this phrase settles to my mind when I recall of that departed soul. Things could have been DIFFERENT!

Mr. Modi, in his message was right to point out that drug abuse is in fact a psycho-socio-medical problem which can only be fought with the help of family, friends, society, government and the law all performing their duties and responsibilities effectively.

A very clear message from his side was that how the money used to purchase banned drugs is found being used in war against humanity-TERRORISM. If a soldier die fighting for his motherland, it might be possible that the bullet with which he was killed had some money coming from the pockets of his own countrymen purchasing drugs and supporting illegal networks! It is such a horrific evil relationship to even this about!

Look it this way- “At one end a young boy gets money from his parents or might get involved in criminal activities to buy drugs that ultimately ruin his life. On the other side, a young patriotic soldier who has sworn to defend his motherland gets killed. That means two young people of a nation die and someone gets to fulfill his evil plan of human destruction!  Isn’t that sound so frightful?”

This message from the Indian Prime Minister made it clear that it is not only a problem for an individual but the society, the humanity and the globe!

Expanding upon the pointers that were made by the Indian PM I would like to bring in what I prefer to call the 4P’s of Combatting Drug AbusePurpose, Passion, Perseverance and Patriotism.

 Dream Big

A simple way to inculcate these 4P’s in your life is to know what they actually mean. In fact we all know about them and they also happen to be the mantra/key of living a beautiful life. Let us take this with an example. I won’t talk about a known figure but a very unknown and common person. There is this girl named ‘Anubhuti’ just about to complete her 21st birthday. She lives far away from her parents in a metropolitan city. She is free to do anything as there is none to keep an eye on her in the city she lives and studies but even then this girl has and will never fall prey to drug abuse. You know why?

She has a PURPOSE which she is following with complete PASSION. She knows her dream is too big but she is committed to achieve the impossible with her PERSEVERANCE and one day she desires she will make her country proud by fulfilling her aim and there comes the role of PATRIOTISM which lies in her blood.

I won’t tell you about the dream she has set for herself. Let us leave her in anonymity till she actually deserves it but she sure deserves appreciation like all those who dream and act to realize it!

Young people like that occasionally confront people who encourage them to do drugs, to be carefree and don’t give a damn about what is happening in and around. They all answer in one resonating voice  ‘WE HAVE A LOT TO DO, TO MAKE, TO CREATE and then one day WE WILL CELEBRATE’. Till then we will celebrate our life and our dream.

WE DREAM BIG BUT WE HAVE NO TIME TO CLOSE OUR EYES BECAUSE OUR DREAMS ARE RELATED TO REALITY…..A REALITY THAT IMAGINATION HAS BROUGHT TO OUR MINDS!

WE ARE CELEBRATING and WE WILL KEEP ON CELEBRATING LIKE THAT!!

WE NEED NO DRUGS!!! DRUG ISN’T COOL- It’s SICK!!

United Nations (UN) has in fact done a great job by recognizing June 21 as ‘International Day of Yoga’.

……………This is in fact a positive beginning of a possible new era of human evolution!

I still remember the days when I used to visit the most spiritual abode one can find in life. The address quite simply stated as ‘Yog Sadhan Ashram’, 3L-Model Town Hoshiarpur was the house of spiritual learning. ‘Sadguru’ Shri Chaman Lal Kapur…., well that was the name of our spiritual teacher and by our I mean the fellowship of devotees that were spiritually struck with the efforts and teachings of Guruji. He was a simple man but with Godly aura. His face used to wipe out every single tiredness of body, mind and soul. As one entered through the gates of this worldly heaven Yoga Sadhan Ashram everything worldly was at once forgotten.

Guruji had a unique way of spreading knowledge and light of Yoga within his disciples. He never boasted about his knowledge. Never did he held anyone captive to learn from him. His teachings were like a sacred flower blossom’s aroma that one gets to sense once in years on mountains after series of struggles and travelling. Guruji used the appropriate mix of Hath Yoga, Raj Yoga and Bhakti Yoga and blending all of this together he offered countless opportunities of physical, mental and spiritual growth of a human being.

Sadguruji Chaman Lal Kapur

Guruji used to do so many things that I can write an Epic on that but what I love the most about him was his poetry. The way he wrote down divine scriptures on Vedic know-how of spirituality in simple words and poetic senses is surely not achievable for a human. He is God! Well, that is what I realize when I go through his writings. I am a very small poet but even the smallest of ants can perceive the smell of sugar around. So basically since childhood I has this opportunity to learn and practice techniques of Yoga from our beloved Guruji-My Sadguruji!

Like me, many have their own spiritual teachers and it is in fact a good thing like the old saying goes- ‘None can flourish without guidance of a True Guru’. Yoga and a Yogic Guru are two inseparable part of attainment of Spiritual Knowledge. A seeker of this knowledge is obviously a human as no other living form on earth is as agile and smart as human being. The intellect plays a larger role in this attainment, self-realization and seeking the Ultimate Truth. The Cosmic Mother Nature remains ready for exploration by those who have some sense of curiosity within their minds.

Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Damodardas Modi very rightly pitched as he stated in UN:

“Yoga embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help us deal with climate change. Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day. (At UN, PM Modi Makes Pitch For Yoga)”

I would like to add to this statement that not only climate change but as Guruji insisted Yoga has the Power of Complete Transformation for both human and nature. Long back saints used to employ Yogic activities in creating a balance between human living and nature. The peace that one attains from within while practicing Yoga directly ensures the Universal Peace. When there is peace none has hideous desires and negativity has no place where there is light. Thus if we practice Yoga as per the set principles the day is not far when world will actually become a Global Home – a Vasudev Katumbkam!
