What do you wish to become in life?

It's hard being human!

There is this instance that I am recalling today while having thoughts of saying farewell to the year 2014. It was the time when I was in school. During one of lectures by our Principal a question was put forward to all the students of our class by him- “What do you wish to become in life?”

Everyone was coming up with pretty decent answers. Soon we had aspiring doctors, engineers, scientists, astronauts and many other would-be professionals right in that class. I was amazed with many of the answers and few students actually appeared focused and committed to fulfill their dreams. Our dear principal was delighted to listen to all the answers.

Finally it was my turn and the same question was blown at me- “What do you wish to become in life?” I might have sounded like a fool among a batch of learners as I replied to his question, “Sir, I want to become a human!”

Soon the class was filled with a laughter that presumably missed breaking the window panes. That laughter was not at all bothering to me as I smiled and thought in my mind ‘Well the question was about life and why does people keep confusing life with career? ’ “LIFE IS NOT CAREER”!

As everyone in the class caught up with their breath I could see resting tears of bygone laughter in the corners of their eyes. Even my closest friend in the class who was seated adjacent to me had rosy cheeks with the rush of blood that has came along with the chortle.

Our dear principal, who was still having his ending fits of laughter said, “Look pupils! We have a non-human person among ourselves!” Again there was a laughter but a short one as everyone was already exhausted and could not continue the good exercise any further. Apparently, they all must have thanked me for coming up with that weird answer- “Sir, I want to become a human!” It actually helped them coming out from the solemness they were engrossed in earlier.

There was a pause, a silence in which I got my ‘self’ thinking again “Why would they just laugh at me and not think about this seriously?Come one we need to learn becoming a human! Or if I try improvise my statement ‘We need to become BETTER HUMANS’!

Soon the principal called my name and stated, “My dear boy, will you give us an insight of why you said that?” He added further, “I know you since you were a child and everyone here is aware about your knowledge quotient. There must be some reason why you said so? Please let us all know. We are all ears to you!”

I have always been so talkative and even bagged the title of a ‘Chatterbox’ from one of our teachers at school (mostly what I spoke to others was a result of series of silent thoughts and imaginative impressions that I used to gather and work upon within my mind; but it was a secret that I always kept safe with me)

Anyhow, the way principal gave me the opportunity to express my self as a orator,  I could see some of students in my class holding their heads as if they were trying to say, “Why Sir? He will not stop now till our ears drop!”

It was not the time for me being an introvert of course. If we give a statement then we must have something to support it. That is what most of educated people do! They try to reason everything!

“Wouldn’t life have been easier if Adam and Eve not ate that wicked fruit?”

“Will you say something today son?” The principal as if jolted me from the imaginary scene that I was enjoying at Garden of Eden in the backdrop of my mind.

“Sure Sir! If you allow I will try to reason out and justify my answer. As my fellow friends have given wonderful answers I was too happy to see them answering confidently. I wish all of them best wishes from my side.”

“We know you as our principal, the head of our school. If anyone from outside world comes to our school you are the one who is the first and most important person to meet for them”

“We are committed to behave like good students so as to glorify your role and so are the teachers who keep working hard to make us learn.”

“I may look stupid briefing that all as it is a simple thing and everyone here knows about it willingly or unwillingly. Even the stray dogs that has been adopted by the school might have a sense about it (I said that so as to break the seriousness that has now started surfacing the class).”

I stopped for a moment and then spoke out again, “OFTEN THE SIMPLE THINGS ARE THE ONES THAT WE IGNORE. Life is all about simple things so when I point out that we have you as principal, some tens of teachers and hundreds of students in this school, I wish to say that these are simply roles that we play in our society. There are other roles as well such as a doctor, a scientist, a businessman and so much more.

We often wish to get into these roles and many of us fail to get there. There are people who lose their self-confidence when they can’t fit into some role that their parents, teachers and they themselves desired in life. The one that pains us the most is the EXPECTATIONS THAT WE HAVE FROM US.

At no day under the glow and warmth of Sun, these roles make up for our life. Our life means much more than these simple roles. We are born and taught about how to eat, how to study, how to act, how to earn and so on but we are never given the learning and knowledge of “HOW TO LIVE?” Is that part so minimal?  I believe it is not!

Most of the times we forget while chasing our goals that life is beautiful. We also forget that our conduct and character is more important for this life. We never bother to analyze our words, deeds and actions.

This is why people do become something in career but they actually fall short of becoming a human!

Why do we hear so much of negative news coming from everywhere?

Why does a person fear walking on a crowded street? Aren’t we of same species when in crowd? Still we fear? Whom do we fear?

Why people do not trust each other?

Why a son does not look after his parents when they are old? Why does he forget the sacrifice they made to raise him?

Why are little children and women killed around the globe?

Why all of everything negative at rising?

I can think of only one possible answers!

“We as child are expected to follow a path of becoming something but we are never given the knowledge of keeping alive our humanity. As we grow up we become more of man and less of human.

_______*_______

AS WE GROW UP….

WE BECOME MORE OF THE MAN AND LESS OF HUMAN!

MAN    versus    HUMAN

MAN= Materialistic Aartificial   & unNatural

HUMAN= Happy_Understanding_Merciful_Appreciative _Noble

Soon there was a tintinnabulation, the school closing bell was ringing out loud but none present in the class showed any sign of moment. The principal as well as the students were carefully paying attention to me and I just said, “Happy New Year everyone! This is the last class that we had this year. I wish all you become better humans in the next year.”

Soon everyone shouted with excitement- “Happy New Year!”

The principal too wished everyone a great year ahead! He smiled and patted on my back and left the class in a thoughtful mood!

_______*_______

I wish each one of you who read this post a very Happy New Year 2015! I hope it will be the year in which each one of us will rise to a higher level in life.

Let us be more human and less of man!

Let us all have compassion in our hearts!

Let us have a heart to love those who are ours and even those who are strangers!

Let us believe in humanity more than we believe in religions!

Let us help those who are in need!

Let us not fall prey to all that is negative!

Let us embrace positive thoughts into our lives!

*HAPPY NEW YEAR*

Stay humane while chasing your dreams here

Confused? YES! Lost? NO!! At least not everyone

Seeing a good movie always make you feel better. It is just like a perfectly brewed coffee that leaves an aftertaste and open wide the imaginative canvas which is otherwise put close somewhere in our minds.

So this Sunday I watched PK (thanks to my lovely wife Reeaa for taking me to the film), the new happening movie of Bollywood iconic actor Amir Khan and just like his nature he enthralls audiences once again with his brilliant performance. Every actor in the movie has acted well and Rajkumar Hirani proves out why he should be loved and blessed for being there in a role of a Bollywood Director.

 Still from movie PK

Well of course I am not planning to write a movie review over here but I just wanted to thank entire cast and crew of #PKTheFilm that actually has given me yet another inspiration to strike down my fingers on keyboard. I love writing, I seriously do. It gives me a rush, a satisfaction, like no drug can give to a man. Also, I hope that what I am writing actually makes some sense and worthy for those who read it. I would say PK is kind of a film that makes you laugh and self-introspect you at the same time. It is an amazing thing to achieve on celluloid!

As humans, we sometimes do look confused in this world. When we look into different societies and communities, we find, they are separated by so many ideologies and actions.

WHAT IS GOOD FOR ONE IS BAD FOR ANOTHER!

WHAT IS PIOUS FOR ONE IS IMPIOUS FOR ANOTHER!

WHAT REPRESENTS JOY FOR ONE REPRESENTS GRIEF FOR ANOTHER!

AND SO IT GOES ON……!!

People living in these little societies seem to be so different and obviously if some extraterrestrial-ET (more decorated world for an alien) comes to this earth, it is going to get in a whole lot of confusion because we do look confused man! 😛

Suppose, just for a while, you have no religion at all, no background, no parents, nothing at all. Now when you see people dressed in the costumes that represent different religions and everyone going to meet God by staying that way, believe me you are going to laugh till you die.

HOW CAN THAT EVER HAPPEN?

WHEN DID GOD DESIGN SO MUCH OF DRESSES FOR HIS FOLLOWERS?

ON TOP OF THAT….EVERYONE IS FIGHTING FOR HIS OWN GOD….TRYING TO COMPETE WITH  FOLLOWERS OF OTHER GODS…SOMETIMES EVEN THEY DO GET THIRSTY FOR EACH OTHER’S BLOOD TO PROVE THEIR GOD UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF THEIR GODMENS!

NO DOUBT SUCH PEOPLE ARE CONFUSED! OR MAY BE GODMEN WANT THEM TO STAY CONFUSED TO REALIZE THEIR OWN SELFISH MOTIVES :/

(When you recall the horrific incident of #peshawarkillings (mere mention of which trembles a humble soul) one gets even more confused because a set of people following a particular religion killed the younger generation of their own society) CAN’T BE JUSTIFIED AT ALL!!

Now that is just one side of the coin. After confusion comes yet another word which we call ‘lost’. So if we are confused does that mean we are lost? NO, not necessarily!

There are people living in this world in every society, each community and across all countries of this globe that actually have no time for getting confused. These are people who are working to fulfill a purpose in their lives.

They might have religion given to them like a certificate right when they were born. (ISN’T IT SO FUNNY THAT TO LEARN EVEN ABC, TO BECOME A DOCTOR, AN ENGINNER OR ANYTHING ELSE YOU NEED TO TAKE CLASSES, COMPETE AND THEN SUCCESSFULLY CLEAR YOUR EXAMINATIONS…ALL OF WHICH TAKES TIME…..

EVEN TO BECOME PARENTS AND ACTUALLY HAVE A CHILD YOU NEED TO REACH PUBERTY BUT TO BECOME A CHIRITIAN, A MUSLIM, A HINDU, A BUDDHIST, A SIKH AND SO ON…..YOU NEED NOT DO ANYTHING….YOU ARE JUST BORN ‘ANY OF THESE’…THAT’S ALL…AND OTHER SOCIETAL CATEGORIES WORSEN EVERYTHING. HINDUS KNOW THE BEST ABOUT SUCH CATEGORIES! PHEWWWWWW!)

So there ARE people who have these tags with them but they do not take them as tags for fighting a championship rather they join hands to serve humanity, care about nature and finally develop competencies that make them better as humans’ altogether. These people know that they need to get unified and share more of positive thoughts than combatting each other with plethora of IDEOLOGIES THAT ARE NEVER GOING US TO TAKE CLOSER TO GOD.

Getting to God, is a lone journey for everyone.

Just take an example of two siblings going to school. When they return to their home they have an option to fight or join their hands till they reach to their parents. Both will have to make a choice and continue their small journey. Imagine you as a parent of these two little kids. If they come to you, travelling all the way to home fighting and hurting each other;

WILL IT BE A PLEASING SIGHT FOR YOU? WOULD NOT YOU FEEL BAD? WOULD NOT YOU PUNISH BOTH THE KIDS FOR HURTING EACH OTHER AT THE SAME TIME FEELING MORE PAIN THAN THEM IN YOUR HEART??

I may be too minimal to say this but OUR DEAR GOD might share this same feeling when He see that His children are reaching to Him with so much of fight and negativity.

So how can you make things better? I could write another hundreds of words to answer this question but I won’t do that as I have something better to offer you.

Here is this little animated video that I watched sometime back. It simply and beautifully explains how people with differences can do things together. I would just say that do watch the video till the end!

DO NOT COMPETE USING RELIGIONS…

USE THEM IN UNISON TO KNOW YOUR GOD IN A BETTER WAY…

IN AN INTELLECTUAL WAY!

Stay blessed everyone and DO WATCH PK 🙂

Yoga for Humanity

Yoga and us!
Yoga and us!

United Nations (UN) has in fact done a great job by recognizing June 21 as ‘International Day of Yoga’.

……………This is in fact a positive beginning of a possible new era of human evolution!

I still remember the days when I used to visit the most spiritual abode one can find in life. The address quite simply stated as ‘Yog Sadhan Ashram’, 3L-Model Town Hoshiarpur was the house of spiritual learning. ‘Sadguru’ Shri Chaman Lal Kapur…., well that was the name of our spiritual teacher and by our I mean the fellowship of devotees that were spiritually struck with the efforts and teachings of Guruji. He was a simple man but with Godly aura. His face used to wipe out every single tiredness of body, mind and soul. As one entered through the gates of this worldly heaven Yoga Sadhan Ashram everything worldly was at once forgotten.

Guruji had a unique way of spreading knowledge and light of Yoga within his disciples. He never boasted about his knowledge. Never did he held anyone captive to learn from him. His teachings were like a sacred flower blossom’s aroma that one gets to sense once in years on mountains after series of struggles and travelling. Guruji used the appropriate mix of Hath Yoga, Raj Yoga and Bhakti Yoga and blending all of this together he offered countless opportunities of physical, mental and spiritual growth of a human being.

Sadguruji Chaman Lal Kapur

Guruji used to do so many things that I can write an Epic on that but what I love the most about him was his poetry. The way he wrote down divine scriptures on Vedic know-how of spirituality in simple words and poetic senses is surely not achievable for a human. He is God! Well, that is what I realize when I go through his writings. I am a very small poet but even the smallest of ants can perceive the smell of sugar around. So basically since childhood I has this opportunity to learn and practice techniques of Yoga from our beloved Guruji-My Sadguruji!

Like me, many have their own spiritual teachers and it is in fact a good thing like the old saying goes- ‘None can flourish without guidance of a True Guru’. Yoga and a Yogic Guru are two inseparable part of attainment of Spiritual Knowledge. A seeker of this knowledge is obviously a human as no other living form on earth is as agile and smart as human being. The intellect plays a larger role in this attainment, self-realization and seeking the Ultimate Truth. The Cosmic Mother Nature remains ready for exploration by those who have some sense of curiosity within their minds.

Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Damodardas Modi very rightly pitched as he stated in UN:

“Yoga embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help us deal with climate change. Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day. (At UN, PM Modi Makes Pitch For Yoga)”

I would like to add to this statement that not only climate change but as Guruji insisted Yoga has the Power of Complete Transformation for both human and nature. Long back saints used to employ Yogic activities in creating a balance between human living and nature. The peace that one attains from within while practicing Yoga directly ensures the Universal Peace. When there is peace none has hideous desires and negativity has no place where there is light. Thus if we practice Yoga as per the set principles the day is not far when world will actually become a Global Home – a Vasudev Katumbkam!

‘Soul-The Seed of Knowledge’

It comes as a random thought to me…what life is? what is our existence? One day when we will silently pass away from this planet…a time will come when no one will remember us…none will utter our name anymore…even the generations that we gave birth to…will forget us! Yeah, the good deeds and our works for society might be remembered…but just as a history page of a unforgotten book…Seasons will pass, winters will come with snowflakes, the autumn will see the tired leaves shedding to the ground, spring will bloom with scent of virgin flowers and summer will yield the good crops with its heat and warmth…

This is the time we keep fighting for our place in this world and that has been what people have been doing since ages…fighting for their communities, fighting for the land, fighting for so many small and big reasons…and at last they do end up but the fight and struggle never ends!

So what still bothers me…why do we come to live here? Why are we born with so many dreams? Why we always wish to fly when we know that we have no wings? Why we love people whom we know will leave us one day? Why this? Why that? And so on…

Put everything else to rest. Sit in silence. Try listen to what your inner-self has to say. There is not much of unrest in that space. It is calm because it knows that what you are…because it knows from where you have come…because it have been there since you were not so aware about yourself…because it will be the one who will follow you till eternity…That my friends is your ‘soul’…It has no minimal desires…It does not want you to keep running…It just wants that you be joyous wherever you are 🙂 All your answers lie in that space which has and will always be within you. God bless all!

‘Germinating thoughts’- Let them breathe when they want

You might have seen a dry seed. Don’t matter what seed, but a seed of course. It is so motionless and one if not knowing about its dormant capabilities can take it granted for a non-living object. But then it germinates upon receiving the proper kind of soil, water and temperature. It breathes and makes one to see its real beauty which was prior hidden and dormant.

What I intend to explain with the citation of my prior example is that one can easily feel his/her mind to be frigid and motionless; just doing the daily routine work. And then we think ‘what’s such a big deal in doing what I do’? But take a while, let the commas and full stops of your mind run like an open eagle high and above. To let the most suited thoughts germinate in your minds and form a plant of good deeds and what you love you need three basic things:

  1. 1.       Place: A place that will help you in letting out the best in you is one which you find interesting, imaginative and the one which let the small little fears inside you to go in the wind. Finding this suitable place can be judged by one’s memory. Try to memorize the places you have been to and among those all few little spaces conclude that which one is the right platform for you. Go there whenever you have time.

  1. 2.       Atmosphere: The environments to which we respond in a way good mannerism are very good for us to imagine and remain curious, without losing our primal focus on our being. The best atmosphere is the one which can sustain our endless thoughts and give us the time and energy to choose for the best one at a time.

  1. 3.       Go beyond threshold: There always is a threshold for a single thought. Once you pass this limit your thought can become infinite in its outcomes. So how do you go beyond threshold? The best answer for that will be that you have to let your thoughts be raw and not manipulated. Leave what others say or have said. You are an individual and your existence can only be proved by yourself. Nobody else will ever define it. Be nice to your soul which always beckons you to hold its self and feel the difference between ‘world from other’s point of view’ and ‘a world from your point of view’. Have no doubt that the latter is always and will be the most beautiful.

Today again I will give you a little exercise to feel good about your existence. But as I have always believed: “Remember that curiosity is much more important than an existence”. So here is what you can do:

  • Take a pot and fill it with the best of the soils.
  • Now, decide for what plant you like the most and order some good seeds of that.
  • Embed the seeds in the pot and water it.
  • Place the pot in the place you like to sit and relax.
  • Ensure that it germinates properly.
  • Once that plant/flower starts to grow; give a while to it just like it’s your friend. Talk to it whatever keeps you distracted. And maybe you will get an answer!

WISHING YOU A HAPPY SUNDAY!

Story of a ‘Fortune teller’

There was once a fortune-teller who claimed to be the man who hath all the answers of other’s fate. His virtues were as popular as were the fortunes that he used to sell. People, no matter of what generic society followed his teachings and all that he uttered. To them, he was the one who was the God in human disguise.

Well, then as time moved on and on there came night of a flood and it ruined all of the locality. Those who inhabited the surroundings either died or were debarred from the land of life. The fortune-teller was safe because his house was all built inside a cave. When in the morning the fortune-teller gathered his goods and came out of his cave like house; to his astonishment there was nowhere he could see a single living soul walking or even lying haphazardly. Very surprised of his discovery he started to roam the land.

Counting each day on his calendar (he used to have a small arithmetic formulation for calendars) he went on and on. His needs were now becoming much more prominent than his greeds. But, wherever he traveled people doesn’t gave him a space to tell a fortune. They never knew that something like a ‘fortune-teller’ can exist in the world. Poor fortune-teller got rejected from each door that he visited. He doesn’t even remembered of the ‘good old days’ when his devotees used to gather around him and listen to him like he was speaking from the heaven above.

All in hunger and misery the fortune-teller found a tree where he decided to rest and not to travel any further. Came the morning and the fortune-teller died! It was a very exquisite day as such. Nature seemed like enjoying its assets but there lied the fortune-teller, barren and stubborn like a stone. One of the gypsy boy saw the dead body and informed about it to the nearby folks.

Again the people gathered around the fortune-teller. But this time the one who was silent and cold like an iceberg was the ‘fortune teller’.

[Don’t know where his soul went (either heaven or might be hell) but this fortune-teller is there amongst us all. We like to tell others of what they must do, or what they would get in their lives; absolutely unknown of the plans that await us. Thus, it’s better to live like one who doesn’t know a thing about fortune then to die as just another useless creature. That makes you spontaneous and when you are so, you are ready for change and evolution.]
